There is a growing recognition that Responsible Business Behaviour (RBB) needs to be linked to active engagement in poverty alleviation and assessing whether there are actions that are consistent with business objectives but with a poverty reduction impact. The study focused the impact of business on the most vulnerable and marginalized among stakeholders e.g. contract workers, bonded labour, chld labour, women, certain special groups and invisible worker groups in supply chain.
The study captured & assessed the current levels of understanding of RBB among select representatives of corporate, small business, government (policy and regulatory bodies), CSOs representing communities and local CBOs, impacted communities, trade unions, INGOs, donors & multilateral institutions which have a stake in working on or influencing responsible business in the State, Management Institutions, employees, consumers and media. Attempt was also made to assess the status of responsible business practices in the State of Orissa, and collect case studies of good practices pertaining to different stakeholders in the two selected sectors i.e. Mining and Spices.
